Welcome to Petrone on the Rocks, the website dedicated to finding the fun (and funny) in life! You'll find one part bubbly, two dashes of beauty, and a healthy pour of banter here at POTR. So pull up a chair and stay a while. It's all the fun without the hangover!

They say the first rule of addiction is admitting you have a problem. Well, hello. My name is Carly…and I am a Sephoraholic. As a loyal shopper with more than 5,000 points, I knew I couldn’t pass up their annual sale without going in with a plan (or else I would just go nuts and grab everything in site). Luckily, I came prepared and knew exactly what products I wanted to stock up on – some new and some old favorites. From watermelon mist to lip primer, here are the 10 must-have beauty products to help keep you cool, hydrated, and dewy fresh this spring and summer.

Laneige – Moisturizing Foam Cleanser – $23

This will be the best $23 you’ll ever spend. Not only is this a gentle way to wash your face every day but it last forever. And by forever I mean like for 6+ months. A little goes a long way and the scent is mild thanks to its fruit extract ingredients. This Korean brand specializes in water science technology to address skin problems. Hydro Ionized Mineral Water offers quicker and deeper absorption for better overall moisturization. So if dry or combination skin is your jam, this product is for you.

Sephora – Colorful Gloss Balm Lip Honeys – $8

Sticky gloss beware! This seriously delicious lip gloss is one of the best hidden secrets from the Sephora Collection. Warning: you’ll want to lick off all of this honey-infused gloss. It’s not sticky at all and it glides on easily, leaving your lips instantly hydrated and simply kissable. It pairs well over lipstick too because it doesn’t produce a lot of color on the lips – it just makes them appear plumpier.

Tarte – Amazonian Clay Waterproof 12-Hour Concealer – $25

Tarte is my new best friend. This vegan-based brand caught my attention a few years ago when I tried their fabulous Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette (a haven for fall mattes and cozy shades). This concealer seems like it would go on thick but it actually is very blendable – plus you can add as many layers as you need to brighten up your under eye area (that’s mainly what I use it for). Want to use a brush to apply instead of your finger? Their Airbrusher Concealer Brush is a great option thanks to its dual ended design and soft yet dense bristle base. Less streaking! Hooray!

Giorgio Armani – Luminous Silk Foundation – $64

Okay, this is a splurge. But a splurge that is worth the sticker shock. This foundation has a cult following and I can see why. A few drops of this potion in a bottle will even out your skin tone while giving it a natural glow at the same time. I’d say this is more of a “night look” only because I tend to wear a tinted moisturizer during the day, which is extremely lightweight. It’s still a very buildable product so you could go from day to night easily by adding on another layer. Save up your money and try this one out.

Makeup Forever – Steph 1: Skin Equalizer Eye & Lip Primer – $23

I’ve spent the past year or so forgetting to use primer (both on my face and my eyes). I came across this lip and eye combo primer when one of my go-to Instagrammers, Tori Wesszer of Fraiche Nutrition, mentioned how much she like this product. You might be surprised about how small the tube actually is but don’t be alarmed – a little goes a long way here. I normally put a dab on my eyelids and use the remnants for my lips. Basically, this helps bring out the natural colors in your pigment and makes your makeup stay put. Perfect for these warmer weather months 🙂

Tarte – Opening Act Lash Primer – $22

Anyone who wants big, full lashes but doesn’t want to spend a fortune on growth serums should head over to Tarte. I had a moment in Sephora last weekend – you know, that moment when you discover a new “secret product” that nobody knows about yet? Well, let me spill the tea because this inconspicuous primer coats and conditions your lashes so well that you may not recognize yourself at first! Tarte uses a 360° magniLASH brush to grip and lather each lash, giving them volume you only see on the red carpet. I might have to go back and buy two more of these – one for each suitcase!

Kate Somerville – ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer – $65

Hollywood’s go-to skin gal, Kate Somerville, has come out with an everyday moisturizer that leaves your skin glowing while exfoliating it at the same time. This lightweight lotion is packed with the 3 Ps: pineapple, pumpkin, and Papaya enzymes to instantly reduce the appearance of surface dullness and uneven skin texture. As the weather heats up it’s a great way to instantly reveal your skin’s natural glow, leaving it feeling softer and smoother right away.

Glow Recipe – Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist – $28

Does one really need a facial spray? No. But it is a small luxury that can add a soft dewiness to your skin, not to mention it helps set your makeup (aka it helps it from not melting completely off your face in the humidity that is New York City). This juicy blend of 84-percent watermelon, hyaluronic acid, and hibiscus refreshes skin and enhances makeup – why wouldn’t you want it again? Oh yeah, if you hate the smell of watermelon, this isn’t for you.

Amika – Bushwick Beach No-Salt Wave Spray – $25

If you know me then you know I HATE air-drying my hair. I have the sort of hair that turns into a) a bunch of knots or b) a bunch of grease. Actually, normally a very fun combination of both a+b. With that said I took a chance by purchasing this Amika version – mainly b/c I heart this brand so much. I have their Mighty Mini Ionic Dryer (that I use on a daily basis) as well as their Perk Up Dry Shampoo. As a fan of both, I figured, why not try this one out? I’ll let you know on IG stories how it goes this summer. Surfs up!

Kopari – Coconut Deodorant – $14

I finally switched over to a more natural deodorant and after many tries, I finally found one I liked. This coconut version by Kopari actually makes your pits smell good and above all else, it works. It glides on clear and it contains a 100% plant-based active that is non-toxic and provides odor protection. Aluminum and baking soda-free and you can smell like you’re on a beach vacation?
