Give Kaitlin Hargreaves a makeup brush and she’ll turn you into your #bestself.
The Canada-based makeup artist is former Bachelorette star Jillian Harris’ go-to gal (you may recognize her from Jillian’s IG stories) but she also works in bridal, fashion, film & television, special FX/body makeup application, and she’ll even take you on a personal shopping trip to help you pick out the best colors for your skin tone. Grab your bestie and enjoy a makeup tutorial with Kaitlin and her team or opt for a one-on-one lesson. This SO makes me want to hop on a flight to Canada! 🇨🇦
Until then, here’s a little Q&A with Kaitlin, who was sweet enough to chat with our POTR readers. Enjoy! xoxo
When did you get started in the make up industry?
I went to school in 2007 at Blanche MacDonald and launched my career after that!
What was your first makeup purchase and would you wear it today?
Hahahaha. I have zero idea. Probably some Maybelline thing from Superstore back in 2002. And no. Likely not. If they even still make it.
You and Jillian Harris seem to have such a fun and playful “workship.” Any funny stories from the set that you can share?
LOL. The time she was pregnant and was laughing so hard she peed her pants… literally wearing a dress dripping in the driveway hahaha.
What’s a great long lasting product while on set?
Number one bridal makeup tip?
SLEEEEEP! Take Gravol the night before and PASS OUT!
Any Canadian makeup brands that we should know about here in the states?
Your biggest beauty hack?
Less is more, let the skin show through and only cover what needs to be covered.
What three beauty products can you not live without?
You recently got into painting, do you find it’s similar to applying makeup to the face?
Sort of…color theory applies… but the canvas is so different.. so blank.. no personality… but that has its upsides too.
Winter makeup tips?
Coconut oil for the face and body…. also for the HAIRRRRR! (oh and cuticles too! pretty much everything.. then you can also put it on toast and add avocado and salt to it!).
Any advice or treatments for those with oily hair?
Moroccan oil has an oil scalp treatment… but I also love dry shampoo.. put it in at night and let it work its magic while you sleep.
What is your favorite dry shampoo brand?
What do you think the future of makeup is (or will we all be robots and no one will care)?
Makeup will never die… but I also have no idea what the future holds lol. I hope a lot of glitter…. like… a lot.
