Born in Cleveland, Ohio. Raised in Altadena, CA.

What's a day in life of DP like?
Slow since retirement two years ago - bad back and can't do anything physical. Most involvement is with my Alma Mater the University of Oregon - most recently Chairman of its $2 billion capital campaign.
Who do you admire most?
I admired my Dad and John Wooden (legendary UCLA basketball coach).

best thing about living in Oregon?
The unspoiled people, being in and around the young people at the University, and the immediate and easy access to all sporting events.
What's something most people don't know about you?
Have suffered depression in the past.
What's your signature style?
Favorite Dad moment?
Whenever I have been recognized for an award or honor, having all my daughters attend. At one such event, daughter Carly was a surprise speaker in front of 400 people - gave a wonderful and loving presentation.
Best part about being retired?
Waking up and getting out of bed whenever. Also the lack of stress.
Three pieces of advice for someone wanting to start their own business?
Have enough capital and be realistic in your business model. Also have a product that is not faddish. Finally, know and be quite sure of your competitive advantage.
Funniest moment with me that you can remember?
Watching the movie Old School and laughing together.
First bucket list item that comes to mind?
Back willing (it isn't at this time), play a round of golf at Augusta, home of the Masters.
Don't have one but if I did words included in the motto would be the words strong character and integrity. Don't waver no matter the situation - when your head hits the pillow at night and you have worries, never worry you haven't been honest in your words and actions.
