Fleabag, The Great
Also starring a Guinea Pig named Hilary. 🐹
so, Who's watching Fleabag?
The Amazon series created by the hilariously endearing Phoebe Waller-Bridge, will make you laugh, cry, wrench, and laugh again. This raw story of a 30-something year-old single woman living in London is both relatable and completely refreshing. Her comedic timing can only be beat by her use of the fourth wall. The opening scene itself is one for the record books. Plus, Fleabag's relationship with her sister reminds me of my own (getting a hug is pretty much out of the question). One of my favorite scenes is when she picks up a guy with ENORMOUS chompers on the bus. Just watch the trailer and you'll know what I'm talking about:
What started as a one woman play in London (written and starring Waller-Bridge) has turned into a 6-episode series definitely worth watching. I find myself thinking the way Fleabag would as I go about my days now, desperately searching for a camera to make faces into. My friend even ran into her at Sweetgreens here in NYC. She probably ordered something chic and cool - like a Kale Caesar with Hot Chickpeas or something.
Fleabag did inspire me to write a spec so here it is, folks. Please let me know what you think. And Phoebe, if you happen to be reading this, I'm available for hire (and I mean as a writer but I'm also available for guinea pig babysitting on set). Read my version of what could happen on Season 2, Episode 1 of this fabulous show.
