Friend of the Week: Brittany Brubaker
1. Wife & mama to three awesome kiddos.
2. Caring nurse practitioner extraordinaire.
3. Modern day Felicity Porter (in regards to her fun preppy style & medical savviness) ;)
4. Winner of throwing the best wedding of I've ever been to. It lasted 12 hours. (I may or may not have slept outside on a bench.)
how do we know each other?
College. Lots of good memories from the Mulberry days that extended into SF and NYC, too.
where are you from?
what's a day in the life of brittany brubaker like?
There is a lot of poop (just kidding). I have an almost 2 year old, 3 1/2 year old, and 6 year old, and now a brand new puppy named Iggy. I work as a NP in a Cancer Center, so I run around a lot. Yesterday, I actually forgot to eat. I used to think that was not a real thing and people were lying when they said that, but it's true! There's no down time in my life right now, but when I do get to relax it's awesome.
what's your greatest attribute?
I am a good listener.
favorite thing about living in near carmel?
Living close to the ocean. I love that my normal running route from home is along the coast.
as a former new yorker, what do you miss most about living in the city?
Not needing a car! I absolutely hate driving. Living in NYC and being able to walk everywhere was awesome.
favorite place to eat/drink in nyc?
Pisticci is an awesome Italian restaurant on the corner of La Salle and Broadway just past Morningside Heights. When we first moved to our last apartment, it was a tiny neighborhood restaurant that wasn't well known. By the time we moved away, it had been "discovered" and it was hard to get a table. They have the best lamb maltagliati and grapefruit martinis (in huge martini glasses). We miss that place and compare every Italian restaurant to it. None live up to it.
only one kind of food and drink for the rest of your life. Go!
Wine and chips & salsa.
favorite beauty product?
Does Brazilian blowout count? If not, the POREfessional Face Primer from Benefit.
what's your signature style?
Very casual - jeans and something comfortable on top. I like to feel cozy.
favorite mommy moment?
Early in the morning the kids pile into my bed, which gets really small when there is 5 of us there and they all insist on lying down on some part of me. It is the best way to start the day.
funniest memory with me that you can remember?
Without a doubt, the infamous Picnic Day episode when you cracked your front tooth! I will never forget knocking on your hotel door and you answering with a tooth missing and a big glass of milk on the nightstand. You know the story.
most embarrassing moment?
Everyone that knows me knows that I am the worst dancer ever. My mom, on the other hand, was the captain of her high school dance team. She tried every type of dance class for me, but it was a lost cause. She finally quit trying when, during my tap dance recital, I shuffle-stepped backwards off of the stage. It was so embarrassing!
Everything happens for a reason!
