Friend of the Week: Emily Gershon
1. Winner of the best, most beautiful hair.
2. Board certified behavior analyst.
3. Barre method junkie.
4. Auntie to the adorable Lincoln.
how do we know each other?
I first met you, Carlita, in junior high, I think? My friend Jill went to elementary school with you and she and I would ride our bikes to your house and then walk to junior high.... Please note that you and I lived 4 blocks away from each other, and you lived two blocks from school. Then we went to school together in junior high and high school, and reunited while traveling on Semester At Sea, and then both lived in SF following college.
WHAT'S A DAY IN THE LIFE OF EMILY GERSHON LIKE?
Wake up, start my day with a soy chai, and brave the Bay Area traffic to get to work, where I travel to my clients homes and schools. Then drive home to SF and hopefully get in a workout at my local barre studio.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING WITH KIDS?
I like to think I make a difference in my clients lives. I love that no two days are the same and that I am constantly challenged.
ONLY FOOD AND DRINK FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. GO!
Anyone that knows me knows I love pizza and my favorite drink is bubbles or wine. Thankfully they go great together!
What's something that most people don't know about you?
I'm OCD about my bed... I like it a certain way, we will leave it at that.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN SF?
I love this city itself, but also love the easy access to the beach, wine country and the mountains. Living in Northern California, we are spoiled that you get to be outside all year long, which is great to enjoy all California has to offer.
Most embarrassing moment?
I'm not one that loves the spotlight so I turn bright red all the time, though I can't remember the last time I was embarrassed.
First bucket list item that comes to mind?
Travel to Australia and New Zealand.
FUNNIEST MOMENT WITH ME THAT YOU CAN REMEMBER?
That's easy, every time we are together something funny happens. Most recently, on my trip to NYC, you took me into a cat cafe.... I don't like cats, enough said.
My Dad recently said, "my goal is to focus on how great each day is so I don't miss the wonders around me. I hope you all can do the same." This has become my life motto.
