#weighinwednesday: When You Just Want To Eat An Entire Cake

I don't know about you but I have a sweet tooth like no other. Today, that tooth was mighty sweet. AND IT WASN'T BUDGING. The kid in me wanted to eat an entire cake preferably a sheet cake from Safeway but I knew I had to reign it in or there would be a sheet cake cemetery in my kitchen.

That's when I remembered...CAKE POPS. These little dollops are the perfect portion size - don't get me wrong, I could have easily eaten a straight up dozen of these Birthday Cake Pops from Starbucks. At 170 calories a pop, these adorable confections are a way better option than walking into your local bakery and ordering their freshest cake.*

For the record, my local bakery is called Make My Cake and they, by far, make the best red velvet cake and cupcakes in NYC if not America. I have Liz Lemon to thank for that (thanks Liz). Seriously, Tina Fey mentioned this amazing cake shop during the season finale of 30 Rock and I found out that it's located just blocks from my apartment. #15lbslater

That said, I got to thinking about other perfectly portioned treats and snacks to have on hand when a craving takes over (I'm an advocate for eating what you're craving because you'll just end up overeating something else). Here are a few of my favorites that I'm weighing in on this week:

Bantam Bagels:

These adorable bite-sized bagels are stuffed with cream cheese and come in a variety of flavors (hello everything "bagel" with veggie cream cheese!). They're available at limited Starbucks' and at their shop on Bleecker St. You can also order them online for a $12 flat rate shipping fee. #thatdoughtho

Baked by Melissa Mini Cupcakes

This Melissa woman is a baking genius - she started making teeny tiny cupcakes and charged a dollar for each one. Now she has a complete empire under her belt (including a gluten-free line). These mini cupcakes are smaller than the palm of your hand, so you don't have to feel guilty about indulging. #whydidntithinkofthat

Amy's Cheese Pizza Snacks

You've probably seen this organic frozen food line at your local grocery store. These little pockets of tomato sauce and mozzarella are the answer to your i-want-pizza-all-the-time prayers. #getsome

Justin's Nut Butter Snack Packs

When I start to feel low, I always grab a spoonful of peanut butter (thanks Dad for introducing me to this habit). Now you can try a variety of Justin's Snack Packs like Honey Peanut Butter with Banana Chips and Chocolate Hazelnut Butter with Pretzels. I'm also a fan of just their Classic Peanut Butter Squeeze Packs. #directlyinsertintomouth

barkTHINS

When you're craving something sweet & crunchy these pieces of bark do the trick. My favorite is definitely Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt. If you're a fan of dark chocolate (traditionally, I'm not but these are worth it), you'll love this line of snacking chocolates. #whoneedschocolatebars

Warning: it's hard to eat just one piece!
