Friend of the Week: Abby Lewis-Evans
/AE-b-ee/ /loo-is ev-uh-nz/
1. Blushing bride.
2. Proud Texan.
3. Co-parent of the most awesome cat ever.
4. One stylish broad.
How do we know each other?
Through the magical, intertwining friend circles of LA and NYC, specifically via Meghan Tucker.
What's a day in the life of Abby Lewis-Evans like?
Oh boy, that's a doozy. I feel like it's different every day. But I guess they all start with ignoring Walter's meows, which start around 6am. We wait for a decent hour, then feed that monster and start getting ready for work. I try to fit in exercise before work each morning whether it's a barre class, running, or yoga. After work, I usually keep it low-key, meeting Jesse at home for dinner and catching up on our TV shows with a glass of wine.
Favorite thing about living in NYC?
All of it. People-watching, green parks hidden amongst giant buildings, places stay open until 4am, diverse neighborhoods, the choice to make a night out anything you want it to be, new restaurants, being spoiled with the best things of the world always coming here. It's truly the best city in the world.
If you could only have one kind of food and drink for the rest of your life, what would it be?
The food would be easy to pick - definitely cheese. And a drink, if I could only have one kind for the rest of my life, I think I'd pick wine. It's good for you, right?
What's something that most people don't know about you?
That I wish I had a natural talent for baking/cooking.
What's your signature style?
I like to mix-up a feminine look with a tough accessory - think sweet floral dress paired with a leather jacket or a spiked ear-crawler earring.
What's your greatest attribute?
I'd guess my sense of humor. I may not have many natural talents or skill-set, but at least I can laugh about it and hope that others join me.
Funniest moment with me that you can remember?
By far, the time in Central Park when the restroom was just too far away. ;) But if that story shouldn't leave the park, then let's go with 'brainstorming and recording of the Real Housewives of PR video.' It was the funniest video I have seen in a lonnnnnnng time, and a genius idea!
First bucket list item that comes to mind?
Live on an island for 1 year. No frills, work in a coffee shop, and enjoy the beach with no other agenda for one solid year.
YOU RECENTLY GOT HITCHED! What's the best memory from your bachelorette? From your wedding?
From the bachelorette.....well, it's all a bit fuzzy (damn you, alcohol). ;) But the thing that comes to-mind when I think of being there with all you wonderful people, it's the dance parties at the house - in the kitchen, on the rooftop, wherever and whenever we could hear music loud enough to start shaking our asses.
From the wedding...oh the ceremony, hands-down. The moment before walking down the aisle, I was an emotional roller coaster, and it was awesome. And then realizing during the ceremony that everyone behind me was there because they loves both Jesse and I enough to travel near and far to be there with us on that day, it just made my heart fill with such humble appreciation for the people in our lives. Weddings are insane and I'll never be the same attending one in the future - so much more to take in now that I know what goes into it, both from the bride and groom as well as the guests attending.
"Sometimes you just have to be tired."
I.e. Always say "Yes" to plans with friends...figure out the early-morning work alarm later. ;)
