Beauty H2O & Mists

I'm about to bottle up some water and call it a "spritz for the skin."

Maybe I'll even throw in a few slices of cuke in there. This inevitable summer skincare item always seemed like a scam to me.

Until I actually tried it. You guys. I'm hooked! I find myself spraying my face so often that I probably look like I'm melting but I don't care. It's so moisturizing and I instantly feel refreshed. Plus, I didn't realize you could use facial mists and H2O water to actually set your makeup for the day. After writing a quick Summer Skincare Guide for CBS Local, I found myself researching all things mists. From beauty water and elixirs to facial sprays and toners, this girl is now obsessed! Here are a few of my recent faves.

The Low Down:

I received this product in a goodie bag last week and I'm already a big fan. This reasonably priced multi-purpose water immediately hydrates underneath moisturizers so your skin stays cool and calm. It even refreshes makeup and leaves your complexion with a healthy glow. It's like drinking an extra glass of water every day.

The Deets:

  • Coconut Water: Long lasting hydration
  • Hyaluronic Acid: Skin plumping
  • Cucumber Extract: Toning & softening

The Low Down:

I never thought I'd invest in NARS skincare products but I was pretty much cornered by an aggressive MUA at Lord & Taylor in the middle of winter. He took half of my makeup off and then told me to look in the mirror to see how makeup is supposed to enhance your features, not make them worse. 1) wanted to punch him in the face and 2) I told him to rack up my credit card with whatever he thought I needed. $100 later I walked out with their Toner and Luminous Moisture Cream ($64). Although these aren't technically mists you do spray the toner onto cotton rounds (DO NOT USE COTTON BALLS) and then work it around your face in a circular motion. The minute he rubbed this magical formula onto my winter-torn face, I was a believer.

The Deets:

  • Rose Extract: Prevents irritation while exfoliating
  • Citrus Fruit Acids: Smooth and soften.
  • Cellulose: Provides deep pore cleansing without scratching the skin's surface.
  • TMG: Lifts away dead cells for a luminous glow.
  • Glycerin: Hydrates and prevents moisture loss.

The Low Down:

This was inspired by Queen Isabelle of Hungary's elixir of youth. Done. Who doesn't want to look like royalty? I'm surprised that my ongoing Kate Middleton obsession hasn't led to some random phone calls to her hair and skincare peeps. Anyway, this plant-based anti-dull complexion treatment smooths away fine lines, tightens pores, and gives your skin an instant boost of radiance. Lord knows I need to diminish the size of my pores. They're about to jump ship.

The Deets:

  • Grape - reverses aging, lightens scars
  • Orange Blossom - balances and evens out skintone
  • Rose - reduces redness, anti-inflammatory
  • Balm Mint - soothes and calms
  • Rosemary - promotes healthy collagen

The Low Down:

Remember Hope in a Jar? That was my jam a decade ago. Now you can upgrade your Philosophy experience by trying their Renewed Hope in a Jar Microrenewal Hydrating Mist. This facial spray re-energizes skin, giving it a dewy glow while hydrating at the same time. It's also formulated with a liquid blend of renewed hope's exclusive non-stop skin renewal technology.

The Deets:

The ingredients are a little more fuzzy on this one but the number one component in this mist is water. So, again, I go back to my original statement. [see above]

Just make sure you close your eyes when applying your favorite mist. Otherwise it may turn into pepper spray. #beatthatmarthastewart
