Don't Pout: 5 Lip Colors For Sensitive Lips.
💄 has always terrified me.
Mainly because I used to be allergic to it. Every time I'd put an ounce of color on my lips (even tinted chapstick) they would blow up like Marty Short in Pure Luck or Will Smith in Hitch. This really worked out well for me when I was a rep at Bare Escentuals. I had to take a full month off. My doctor literally asked me if I had the type of job where I could "hide from people for a while." Oh sure, I replied. I'm just a MAKE UP ARTIST. My new boss for sure thought I was lying and taking some exotic around-the-world vacation instead of dealing with what was actually happening: me, scaring various members of my family with the state of my lips as I laid low at my parent's house and became best friends with bottles of Vanilla Ensure.
I'm not sure why but as I've gotten older, this allergy has significantly diminished. I'm still kind of terrified to try new lip color (Bare Escentuals has been very Carly Lip-Friendly) but I'm happy to report that I've been able to wear a few other brands without having to rush to urgent care. So if you have super sensitive lips like I do, you might want to check out the following products:
NARS Satin Lip Pencil - $26
- Super rich and smooth
- Highly pigmented (a little goes a long way)
- Fun & bright colors
- Jumbo size pencil = easy to use as liner & all over lip color
- Very moisturizing
I'll most likely always have to stay away from lip plumpers and I have to say a solid "hell no" to Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits, but at least I can finally rock a bold lip!*
*My mouth has gotten so used to wearing chapstick that all of the color bleeds to the edges.
