/beh-kuh/ /sh-eh-perd/

noun

1. A loyal Duck.

2. Wine lover.

3. One epic sports fan.

4. Smartypants (sassy child & quite the brainiac).

How do we know each other?

I was Carly's younger sister's BFF growing up, so she's known me since birth. Our families are tight, yo.

What's a day in the life of Becca Shepherd like?

I wake up hungry and ALWAYS eat breakfast. It's by far the best meal of the day. I recently started a trend of writing someone a letter or postcard while I eat breakfast. It's a great way to start the day with a positive outlook. I'm currently job hunting, so that takes up a good part of my day along with working for a local start up I recently started volunteering for. My bike is my car, so you'll find me on that most days commuting around town. Getting outside and/or drinking wine with my sister & sister-in-law or friends happens more often than not... Throw in some night time reading, lots of tea, Buzzfeed article, playing with my cat, and you've got yourself a Becca day!

What are your nicknames?

I guess Becca is already my nickname (short for Rebecca, obvs). I also respond to Bex, "hey you", and the sound of a wine bottle being opened.

What's your greatest attribute?

My breasts can always tell when it's going to rain...or when it's raining.

Favorite Auntie Moment?

Ooh, good/tough question... First thing that comes to mind was when I first held Kayla (my 13 yo niece) when she was only a few days old.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN THE BAY AREA?

The access to the city, beach, mountains, and most anything in between.

ONE FOOD AND DRINK FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. GO!

I've never met a pizza I didn't like. Drink is a toss up between tea and wine...so mulled wine it is!

What's something that most people don't know about you?

I was a huge brat as a child till about 6th grade. Like, really annoying, obnoxious, rude, weirdo kid you didn't want your child associating with. Big kudos to the Petrone family for sticking with me all these years!

Duke.jpg

You recently graduated from duke B-School, congrats! What did you like most about living in North Carolina?

I loved living in North Carolina! Such a beautiful state and region of the country. It was clear we lived in a more progressive area of the state with all of the universities and being close to RTP (Research Triangle Park). After HB2 passed, (most of) the local community was strongly united against it. Great food, diverse community, and close to the outdoors -- I highly recommend a visit!

WHAT WERE YOUR BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS FROM THE PROGRAM AND WHAT SORT OF JOB ARE YOU IN THE MARKET FOR?

I think most people from school would agree that the friends you make is the biggest takeaway from getting an MBA at Duke. Not only is basically everyone else smarter than you, but they come from all parts of the world (~40% int'l), all walks of life, and have opted in for the collaborative and supportive culture you don't find as ingrained at other B-School programs. I'm currently seeking opportunities to get back in to the impact investing/social entrepreneurship space, hopefully in the bay area. But going abroad is sounding more and more appealing each day...

Funniest moment with me that you can remember?

The funniest moments are reminiscing over the funniest moments and reliving them while we pee ourselves laughing.

WHAT'S YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?

Cali casual.

First bucket list item that comes to mind?

See all 50 states of the US. I think I have less than 15 to go!

Life Motto:

You do you.
